Mark A. Hunt, the eldest of five children, comes from a working class family. From the time he was a young child, Mark's family instilled in him the values of honesty, integrity, respect, and personal responsibility, as well as the honor of public service. He attended Lincoln Junior High School and Stonewall Jackson High School, where he was active in sports and excelled at academics, graduating in 1978. Mark obtained his B.A. from the University of Charleston in 1982 and an M.A. from Marshall University in 1984. Thereafter, he worked as a Legislative Analyst for the West Virginia Office of Legislative Services for six years, prior to attending law school. Upon completion of his law degree at the District of Columbia School of Law in 1993, Mark served as Counsel to the West Virginia State Auditor before co-founding Hunt and Serreno in 1994. Mark went into solo practic in November 2007 with Mark A. Hunt & Associates. Also in 1994, Mark was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing Charleston, where he served for ten years. As a legislator, Mark gained a reputation for, being tough on crime and supportive of educational initiatives.

Mark is married to the former Tracy Conard and is the father of three boys; Andrew (1998-1999), Mark (Jr) and Jackie.
